Description

Asteracanitha is a slender, erect herb that can reach up to 60 cm (2 feet) in height. Its stems are tetragonal, hairy, and stiff at the nodes. The leaves are elliptic-lanceolate, herpid, and arranged oppositely along the stem. The flowers are small, purple, or violet-blue, and arranged in spikes or racemes. The fruits are linear, glabrous capsules containing numerous hairy seeds.
